Sunday, June 5: Scripture – Acts 2:19-21
19 And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist.
20 The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious day.
21 Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
Prayer Focus: Pentecost is explained through the words of the prophet Joel because Joel’s words are for the entire world. The Holy Spirit did not just come for the sake of the church, but for the sake of the whole world. The church does not exist in a vacuum, the church is a part of a global community. Today as we celebrate Pentecost, we remember how the church was started, as well as the ways it has been transformed. Pray that we have the courage to be the church outside of the walls of the sanctuary, and that the Spirit might show us the way.
