Monday, May 2: Scripture – John 10:14-16
14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.
Prayer Focus: This week we turn our attention to a familiar image and familiar psalm – Jesus as the good shepherd and Psalm 23. We begin with these verses from the Gospel of John. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep and speaks in a way that sheep who do not belong to the fold will listen to his voice. Think of someone you are praying for today to hear the voice of the shepherd. Pray for the one who will hear the call and respond. Pray that there might be one flock, one shepherd. Pray that you might follow when you hear that voice call your name as well.
