Thursday, March 17: Scripture – 1 John 3:7-8
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.
8 Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
Prayer Focus: It’s not surprising that John says, “let no one deceive you,” because there have always been those trying to deceive us. In fact, we seem to be quite skilled at deceiving ourselves. In this context the deception is that sinning is perfectly all right. It is not all right. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil, to overcome sin and death, to set us free. Why keep living in bonds when you can be free? Pray that you might embrace the freedom Christ has given you today.
