8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Prayer Focus: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” I often use this verse to introduce a prayer of confession. We all have sin and we all sin. No doubt about it. And yet, we are also skilled in self-deception. Surely my faults are not Sin, just things I need to work on. Surely I am not as bad as that person. Surely, God is going to reward me for all the good I do or at least try to do. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Pray that your eyes might be opened to your Sin today and that you might be brought to repentance and new life in Christ. For while we were sinners, God sent his son Jesus Christ so that we might receive new life.
