Sunday, February 13: Scripture – 1 Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Prayer Focus: I am always struck by scripture’s use of the present tense. Very rarely do we hear, “You will be” or “Someday you will become.” Instead, we hear, “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people.” Your identity is declared by God, not something you have to grow into or become. You are God’s people, therefore pray that today you might proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
