Sunday, January 30: Scripture – Luke 4:29-30
29 They got up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff.
30 But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way.
Prayer Focus: Encounters with Jesus require some kind of decision on our part. His hometown decides to try to throw him off a cliff! They did not succeed, but we are reminded that the threat to Jesus and the church is ever-present. However, what I find most interesting about this text is that as Jesus passes through them and goes on his way, no one follows him. Pray that you might not just be amazed or enraged by Jesus today; pray that you might follow him.
