Tuesday, October 26: Hymn – I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art
Prayer Focus: Our second hymn is another classic from the Reformation. “I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art,” is attributed to John Calvin. As Calvin preferred singing the psalms instead of hymns, it is doubtful that he was the original author of the text. Still, it remains a classic Reformation hymn. The focus is squarely on Christ as our redeemer. It is phrased as a welcome or a greeting to Christ. As you hear the chorus in the hymn today, think about how you would greet Christ if he came to visit our church. What would you do or say? Maybe you would lift your voice in song? Pray for the ways in which you might greet Christ as he comes into your heart and life today.
Remember – for the first time since the pandemic began, we will have significant congregational singing on Sunday. To do so as safely as possible, masks will be required this week.
