Monday, October 25: Hymn – A Mighty Fortress is Our God
Prayer Focus: This coming Sunday we have planned a special musical service to mark Reformation Day and All Saints’ Day. For the first time since the pandemic began, we will have significant congregational singing – are you excited? To do so as safely as possible, masks will be required this week. In this week’s devotions, we want to invite you to reflect on the hymns that we will sing together. Each day there will be a link to a YouTube version of the hymn. This morning we begin with the classic Reformation hymn by Martin Luther, “A Mighty Fortress is our God.” Luther is famous for his quote, “Why does the devil get all the good music?” As you listen to this familiar, yet new, version of this hymn, give thanks for the gift of music. Pray for the ability to truly hear God speak to you through the hymns we will hear and sing this week.
