15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.
16 In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this is the name by which it will be called: “The Lord is our righteousness.”
Prayer Focus: We are a church called, “Unity.” The story of our history says that the name was chosen to bridge the houses of two families who had been adversaries in England. That name, “Unity,” says something about who we are and who we believe God is calling us to be. The Lord promises in our text today that a righteous Branch will spring up for the family of David. And it shall be called: “The Lord is our righteousness.” What would it mean if the name we carry reminded us and everyone we encountered that righteousness is a gift to us from the Lord. Pray that you might embrace the gift of righteousness today. Give thanks for the gift you could never achieve on your own.
