30 For the people of Israel and the people of Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth; the people of Israel have done nothing but provoke me to anger by the work of their hands, says the Lord.
Prayer Focus: The people have done nothing but evil. They have done nothing but provoke the Lord’s anger. This is a hard word to hear because we like to give ourselves the benefit of the doubt. We’re really not that bad, are we? We do good things and things that are pleasing to the Lord, right? My friends, everything we do and all that we are is tainted by sin. We cannot please God with our own efforts. As the PCUSA Brief Statement of Faith declares, “We deserve God’s condemnation.” Pray that you might acknowledge and repent from your sins today.
