16 You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.
Prayer Focus: This text follows the passage we considered a few weeks ago about Jesus as the vine and we as the branches. Christ has appointed us to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. Fruit rarely lasts. In our house we eat a fair amount of fruit, so it normally does not last because it is consumed. But there have been times when the fruit has spoiled before we could get to it. Pray that you might bear fruit that lasts, that endures, and that it will continue to nourish yourself and others.
