11 For this is the message you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 12 We must not be like Cain who was from the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous.

There are those who do not love their brother. The author thinks immediately of Cain who murdered his brother Abel. Why did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil and Abel’s were righteous. To love our brothers and sisters we must celebrate with them in their joys and their gifts, not begrudge them. Pray that you might love your brothers and sisters today and celebrate with them in the gifts they have received.
