1 When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples 2 and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it.
Prayer Focus: This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday, the day we mark as the day of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. And yet the week that begins on Palm Sunday will be troubled, leading to Jesus’ death on a cross before on the third day the women discover the empty tomb of their resurrected Lord. Today, we begin with Jesus and the disciples approaching the holy city. At Bethpage and Bethany, about two miles from Jerusalem, Jesus pauses and sends two of his disciples to go and find a colt. We are not told which two disciples are sent, just that they are given instructions. Sometimes the work of the Lord looks like going to find a donkey. Pray for a willing heart to say yes when Jesus says go, even if the task appears to be an odd one.
