Monday, March 15: Scripture – Psalm 30:1-3

1 I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up, and did not let my foes rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.
3 O Lord, you brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.

Prayer Focus: In this final week of our Stewardship Season, we will seek to connect joy with hope. Not only do we know joy in this moment as we see Christ’s presence with us, we also know the joy set before us in hope. We will read and pray with two passages this week. The first is Psalm 30. The psalmist praises the Lord for the Lord has redeemed, healed, and restored him to life. The Lord did not let “my foes rejoice over me.” It is always tempting to take pleasure in the downfall of an enemy and disdain one who has fallen. The Lord rescues the psalmist from this false joy. Pray that you might not rejoice in the downfall of your enemies. Pray that you might rejoice in the deliverance and healing that only God can provide.
