1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,
Prayer Focus: As we know the faith and the stories of all those who have gone before us, the writer of Hebrews now turns specifically to us. For our journey is like theirs and the race is yet before us. Perseverance, grit, determination – these qualities are more important than any particular gifts or skills. For the journey can be long and the road can be hard. Pray that you might have persistence and perseverance today. Pray that you might find joy in running the race, not just in anticipating crossing the finish line.
