Rev. Dr. Matthew A. Rich, ext. 101
Senior Pastor / Head of Staff, Matt received his AB in Religion from Davidson College, his MDiv from Union-PSCE (now Union Presbyterian Seminary) and his Doctor of Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. His doctoral project was entitled, “Young Adults, Sabbath Practices, and Christian Joy.” Throughout his ministry, Matt has sought joyfully to proclaim the good news of the gospel and invite congregations to faithfully live out that good news in their lives. His particular interests in ministry are preaching and leading faithful and engaging worship; developing servant leaders who listen carefully for God’s call; pastoral care at all stages of life; cultivating disciples who live joyfully and generously; and exploring how the gospel intersects with our daily lives.

Rev. Molly Spangler, ext. 110
Associate Pastor, Molly received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from East Carolina University and her Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary. She believes everything begins with relationship and connection to one another. Worship, justice, mission, fellowship and pastoral care all depend on forging relationships of trust with one another and with God. After serving churches in Richmond, VA and Columbia, SC, Molly is excited to begin ministry with and alongside the congregation of Unity Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Dr. Mark Verdery, ext. 122
Parish Associate, Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Mark is a self-proclaimed “endangered species,” a cradle Presbyterian. He graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1971 with a Masters of Divinity. Mark began his official ministry as a Pastor in Alabama and later found himself as the Ministry of Evangelism and Congregational Care leader in Georgia before landing back in South Carolina in 1985. Beginning in 1985, Mark spent the next 20 years as the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina and while at First Church, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree in Parish Revitalization from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. In fall of 2004, he accepted Providence Presbytery’s call to become the General Presbyter and Stated Clerk. After 47 years in ministry, he was granted honorable retirement at the end of 2018 and intended to take a “sabbath” following retirement in order to decompress and begin to discern what God might have in store for next. In his retirement, God has led Dr. Mark to Unity where he looks forward to sharing his gifts in pastoral care with the congregation.
