Scripture – Exodus 32:1

1 When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered around Aaron and said to him, “Come, make gods for us, who shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

Prayer Focus: This week we rejoin the Exodus journey of the Israelites. They have reached Mt Sinai and Moses has gone up the mountain to talk with the Lord. But he is delayed and does not come down as soon as the people expect. And so the people’s first thought is “we are going to need some news gods.” That might seem to be an odd response, but has impatience ever set you on the wrong path? Where do you turn when God doesn’t answer your prayers as quickly as you expect?
