Scripture – Romans 8:35-36

35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? 36 As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all day long;

    we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.”

Prayer Focus: Sometimes fear is used as a tool by evangelists in manipulative ways. If someone is afraid of punishment or separation or eternal fires, they will more easily claim to believe in Christ. However, here we find Paul turning the question around. Remember he already assumes the answer to his questions is “God acts for you in Jesus.” But still, we wonder if any of these things can separate us from the love of Christ? Just sit with that question today. What do you fear or wonder about that could separate you from the love of Christ?
