Scripture – Matthew 25:1

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this. Ten young women took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

Prayer Focus: This is the final week of our summer Worship and Faith Formation series, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like …” as we have followed Jesus’ parables about the kingdom of heaven from the Gospel of Matthew. In this parable we find that the kingdom of heaven will be like ten young women who take their lamps as part of a bridal procession. This is the first parable that tells a comparative story about what the kingdom “will be” instead of “is.” Pray that you might lift your eyes beyond the concerns of today to see what “will be.”
