Scripture – Matthew 5:46

For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

Prayer Focus: Have you ever sang the hymn, “They Will Know We Are Christians by Our Love?”  Christians are not known for loving the people who already love them…followers of Christ are known by the love they show to those who persecute them.  When asked how he could love those that beat him during the civil rights event that came to be known as Bloody Sunday, John Lewis said he looked at them and imagined them as a little child.  As you sit with this scripture today, reflect on those people that feel hard to love right now.  Pray today that you might discern how to love when it is challenging.
