Scripture – Matthew 24:29

29 “Immediately after the suffering of those days

the sun will be darkened,

    and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from heaven,

    and the powers of heaven will be shaken.

Prayer Focus: It feels odd to begin this week even before Thanksgiving with our Advent theme “Love Comes Down.” And yet as Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent, we jump into this text from Matthew’s Gospel today. Jesus is speaking about the end times, saying they will follow days of suffering. Then the very creation will begin to unravel – the sun and the moon will be dark, the stars will fall, and the heavens will shake. Pray for the ways you might care for the creation today as we prepare for the coming of Christ.
