36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”

Prayer Focus: Which commandment in the law is the greatest. This is not an unreasonable question. In fact, I have read it was a favorite topic of debate for the Pharisees. It could be asked, “Can you recite the entire law while standing on one foot?” It would be analogous to if someone asked you today, “What’s the greatest baseball team of all time?” It can be a fun debate (you’ll have to ask me what I think about the greatest baseball team), but in this instance, let’s think about how it can focus our discipleship. What is the one thing that should guide your actions and response to God’s love today? Pray that you might actually do that one thing.
