Sunday, April 6th: Scripture – Psalm 132:8-10

8 Rise up, O Lord, and go to your resting place,

you and the ark of your might.

9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness,

and let your faithful shout for joy.

10 For your servant David’s sake

do not turn away the face of your anointed one.

Prayer Focus: When David goes to get the ark, he turns it into an elaborate procession. The priests get all dressed up, the people shout for joy as they join the parade, and David dances with great abandon before God. This Sunday is Confirmation Sunday as our 8th graders share their public professions of faith and become full, active members of our church. It is a day of celebration, so get dressed up, shout for joy, and maybe even dance. Give thanks for these young people and surround them with your prayers.

“As this old ark song is resung now by the people of God on pilgrimage, historical memories are revived and relived: there is a vast rich reality of obedience beneath the feet of disciples. They are not the first persons to ascend these slopes on their way of obedience to God, and they will not be the last. … Christians tramp well-worth paths: obedience has a history.” Peterson, 160.
