1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side
—let Israel now say—
2 if it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
when our enemies attacked us,
3 then they would have swallowed us up alive,
when their anger was kindled against us;
4 then the flood would have swept us away;
the torrent would have gone over us;
5 then over us would have gone
the raging waters.
Prayer Focus: The life of a pilgrim on their way to Jerusalem, the life of discipleship for one seeking to follow the way of Jesus, is not an easy path. There are threats at every turn: enemies who attack, dragons that seek to swallow, and floods that sweep away. But the Lord is on “our” side. We are not on this journey alone. God is with us. Others stand beside us. Pray for and lift up those who are on your side today. Pray that you might stand with those who fear enemies, dragons, and floods.
