50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Prayer Focus: How comfortable are you with mystery? For Paul what is to come is a mystery. He knows that flesh and blood, those things that tie us to this earthly world, will not inherit the kingdom of God for Paul knows that all created things are perishable. But what Paul also knows is that we will be changed. There is something wonderful and mysterious in God’s care that is to come. Pray that you might trust that God has good things in store for you and for the world, even and especially if you find it hard to see right now.
