What is the Confirmation Journey?
In the Presbyterian Church USA, we invite youth to participate in the Confirmation Journey as an opportunity to explore, consider, challenge, and discover their own faith. In Confirmation, we “confirm” the faith that was proclaimed on our behalf in baptism, we affirm what we believe as followers of Jesus Christ, and we join the church, becoming full members and active participants. At Unity Presbyterian Church, we set aside the 8th grade year for the Confirmation Journey, but we offer the journey for older students once every four years for those who are not ready or able to participate during the 8th grade year.
What are the expectations of each 8th grader?
In this journey, youth are expected to participate in classes during Sunday School, attend worship regularly, attend a retreat, attend Sponsor Group meetings and write a Statement of Faith to be shared with the Session. Click here to view the information packet with full details.
NOTE: For all in-person, on campus events registration will be required. Don’t forget to bring your own mask, water bottle and a lawn chair.
COVID-19 Restrictions: Currently, Unity is in Phase A of our regathering plan, which allows us to have small groups of 15 or fewer gathered in outdoor spaces with social distancing and masks. We are being creative to ensure the safety of our youth and adults while also finding new ways to experience God and fellowship. If you don’t feel good or have a fever, please stay home on that particular week. When Unity moves to Phase B of our regathering plan, youth will be informed of any program changes that may occur; we will not change programs, but locations and guidelines may change.
