Prayer Requests

Prayer Request

Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4.6-7

At Unity Presbyterian Church, we believe in the power of lifting one another up in prayer. Through prayer, God gives us the healing, comfort, guidance, and assistance we need. As the family of God, we are called to share life together by sharing in one another’s joy and holding one another up in times of sorrow. In all things, we give thanks to God and cast our burdens on the One who cares for us. We invite you to share your prayer requests here on our website, by calling the church office (803-547-5543), or by calling the After-Hours Pastoral Care Line (803-280-1075). Our pastoral staff will make every effort to respond appropriately as soon as possible.

At Unity, we encourage you to share both joys and concerns. Here are some examples of prayers we’d love for you to share:

  • Joys: Including births, weddings, good news after a health challenge, graduations, or other blessings in your life.
  • Births: When we receive information about births in our congregation, we have a New Baby Welcome Team. Please include the child’s name, the parents’ names, and the date of birth, and the New Baby Welcome Team will provide a rosebud for worship and a gift and visit from a member of our congregation.
  • Concerns: Including surgeries, medical procedures, illnesses, hospitalizations, injuries, accidents, mental health challenges, divorce, tragedies, and other things that cause us pain.
  • Deaths: When we receive information about deaths within our congregation or deaths of your family members, we add your name to our Caring Friends List, and you’ll receive periodic cards and support. We will send you a personal invitation to our All Saints’ Service in remembrance of our lost loved ones in the year prior. And if you so choose, a pastor will contact you regarding funeral arrangements.

When you submit a prayer request through our website, the email address is monitored by a designated Elder, who oversees the Prayer Chain and distributes confidential pastoral information to the pastoral staff. At Unity, we also have several ways that we can share information about your prayer requests:

  • Prayer Chain: You may elect for your prayer request (joys, births, concerns, or deaths) to be shared through our Prayer Chain. Your prayer request will be shared by email with many of our congregation members who have signed up to pray diligently, and it will be shared in our bimonthly Newsletter. Our Card Ministry group sends cards to those who have submitted prayer requests, and our pastoral staff will make contact if appropriate.
  • Private Concern: You may elect to submit a private concern, which will be kept confidential by pastoral staff and the designated Elder who oversees the Prayer Chain. If you would like to submit a private concern to only pastoral staff, please call the office or the After Hours Pastoral Care Line.
  • Request a Call or Visit: You may also choose to submit a request for a pastoral call or visit, and a member of our pastoral staff will contact you as soon as possible.
