BIOS of Officer Candidates – Class of 2019

Elder Candidates

Dorothy Cate Gambrell - Elder

Dorothy has been married to Danny for 49 years. They have 2 children, Scott and Heather. They also have 3 granddaughters. She attended business school in Charleston, SC and York Tech in Rock Hill. Dorothy has worked with 3D Systems for over 10 years as supervisor of the credit and collections department. She is now partially retired and enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and baking.

Dorothy has been a member of Unity since 1975. She has served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, nursery volunteer, sang in the Chancel Choir, played handbells, was a youth advisor for Senior Highs, and Moderator of Presbyterian Women. She is currently a member of the Hospitality & Evangelism Team.

Steve Hardy – Elder

Steve and his wife, Marcia, moved to Fort Mill from Ohio in 1995 with his job at Continental Tire. They have 5 children and 10 grandchildren. Steve enjoys golf and volunteer work in his retirement.

At Unity, Steve has served on the Outreach Team and has served as Deacon for Outreach. He also coordinates Unity’s Habitat for Humanity work. Steve has served as an Elder and was Co-chair of the Building Committee for the new sanctuary. In the Presbytery, Steve serves on the Glocal Committee and has been Moderator of the Mission & Outreach Team.

Robert H. (Bob) Mobley – Elder

Bob and his wife, Susan, moved to Fort Mill and joined Unity in 1990. Their two children, Christopher and Anna, benefited from attending Fort Mill schools and growing up at Unity. Both are now married, and Bob & Susan have 4 grandchildren. Bob earned a B.A. degree from Wofford College and an MBA from Wake Forest University. He spent 25 years in the corporate world, and now serves as assistant dean of the McColl School of Business at Queens University in Charlotte.

At Unity, Bob has served as a Sunday school Teacher, Youth Group advisor, and as an Elder several times. He has served as Chair of the Stewardship Team and was Chair of the Sanctuary Feasibility Committee. Bob has also served on several capital campaign committees. He is currently serving on the Staff Team.

Lynn Ringley – Elder

Lynn has been married to Ron for 18 years and they have two children, Jackson and Julia. She has a degree in Elementary Education, a Masters degree in Counseling, and a certification as a Child Life Specialist. She has worked in the field of education in a variety of roles, most recently with the Foundation for Fort Mill Schools, where she runs Classroom Ready, a free school supply program.

At Unity, Lynn has served in the nursery and newborn ministries, Children in Worship, Unity Weekday Preschool, elementary Sunday school teacher, Growing Christians, Middle and High School youth ministries, and also as an Adult Sunday school teacher. She has also served on two search committees and a Presbyterian Women’s Circle.

Beverly Tysinger – Elder

Beverly grew up in Charlotte in the Presbyterian Church. She has been married to Ken for 39 years. They have 2 children and 1 grandson. She is a graduate of East Carolina University. Beverly loves to exercise, read, garden and cook.

She has been a member of Unity since 2010. She has served as a Deacon, Chair of the Adult Disciple Ministry Team, and a Circle chair. She is an officer on Presbyterian Women, serving as the Christian Bible Study and Spiritual growth leader. Beverly attends the Upper Room Sunday school class and is a member of the Tony Dehler Circle. She has been a participant in the Disciple program for 10 years, the last 5 leading the Disciple I. classes at Unity.

Murray White – Elder

Murray was baptized as a baby in Unity’s Historic Sanctuary 75 years ago. He graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, in 1963. He is married to Joyce, and they have 3 children and 10 grandchildren.

At Unity, Murray has previously served as a Deacon and Elder. He presently serves on the Hospitality & Evangelism Team and the Christian Education Team. He also teaches an adult Sunday school class. He has previously served on the Nominating Committee, as well as the Search Committee for 2 of our Directors of Christian Education. He presently serves as Moderator for Providence Presbytery Administration Team, which covers finance and personnel.

Deacon Candidates

RJ Bates – Deacon

RJ grew up in Fort Mill and graduated from Fort Mill High. He has a degree in physical therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina. He started Fort Mill Physical Therapy in 2002 and created Palmetto Rehab Physical Therapy in 2006. He and his wife, Marion, have 3 daughters, Grea, Lexi, and Lily. RJ was baptized and grew up at Unity. He was active in Youth Group, and has volunteered and served as an usher at Unity.

Jane Boyd – Deacon

Jane has been married to Jim for 39 years. They have 3 sons, 2 grandsons, and 3 granddaughters, with another due in January. She graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College. Jane has worked in hospital labs, and was last employed by the American Red Cross as lab supervisor and quality assurance auditor. She just retired after 24 years of service. At Unity, Jane has been a member of the Chancel Choir, an Endowment Board Member, helped with Vacation Bible School, works with visitor statistics, and has worked on the Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build. Jane has also been a volunteer at the York County Free Clinic.

Ned Chamberlain – Deacon

Ned has lived in Fort Mill since 2000. He is married to Angela, who grew up in Fort Mill. They were married by Dr. Holloway in 2000 in the Historic Sanctuary. Ned is from Northern Virginia and graduated from Clemson in 1998. He and Angela have two children, Jackson and Caroline. He works for a software company called Integration Point as VP of Solutions Delivery. At Unity, Ned has assisted teaching the adult Koinonia Sunday school class and 3rd grade class. He has served as offering assistant, usher, and greeter. Ned has also served as a Confirmation Sponsor for 2 years. He participates in Family Promise and the Angel Tree.

Jim Dobbins – Deacon

Jim has been married to Tricia for 28 years. They have two daughters, Jamie and Jenna. Both are graduates of Clemson and the whole family is big Clemson fans. Jim is retired from Gulfstream Aerospace, where he led a sales team. He is currently involved in two start-up businesses, one that is with his daughter, Jenna. The family moved to Fort Mill in 2010 after living for 13 years in Southern California. Jim has been a member of Unity since 2011. He is currently enjoying working with a great bunch of adults and students with the Middle School Youth Group, led by Lindsay.

Cindy Epps – Deacon

Cindy has been a member of Unity since 1963. She is married to Chuck. They have two daughters, Ashley and Lauren, and a granddaughter, Nolan. Cindy graduated from Clemson and taught school for 33 years. She volunteers with the Ladies Greenway Guild, loves to walk and read to classes. She is an avid Clemson football fan. At Unity, Cindy grew up attending Sunday school and youth group. She has taught Sunday school and was a leader for Growing Christians. She is a helper with Children in Worship. Cindy currently serves on the Outreach Team, is a Circle member, and volunteers with Second Harvest. For the past two years, she has helped organize the Classroom Ready program for book bags for needy students.

Michael Fritz – Deacon

Mike has a B.S. in Computer Science from Winthrop University. He has been a Software Developer for Retirement Clearinghouse since 2006. Mike enjoys the outdoors, music, cooking and baking, and learning new things.

At Unity, Mike has been on mission trips to Honduras, works with the High School Youth Group, sings in the Chancel Choir, and volunteers occasionally with Habitat and Family Promise.

Ashley Hogon - Deacon

Ashley holds a degree in Animal Science from Clemson University, and has a great deal of experience in sales. She is currently working for Comporium Communications selling digital signage. She also works with her husband, Jamey, as co-director of Revelation Percussion, a non-profit competitive winter percussion program based out of Concord, NC. Jamey and Ashley were married last September and live in Whiteville Park with their two dogs. She enjoys cooking, travelling, and spending time with Jamey’s twin sons, Aaron and Ben. Ashley grew up in Dorchester Presbyterian Church in Summerville, SC. She did spend time at Unity as a child at Vacation Bible School and during holidays with her grandparents, Louesta and Bill Henry. Since joining Unity, Ashley has been involved with creating the Young Adults at Unity (YA@U). She is currently serving on the Adult Discipleship Ministries Team and helped to organize the 2016 Women’s Retreat. She has also participated in Family Promise and Second Harvest, and has assisted with administrative tasks in the church office.

Denese Reichenbach – Deacon

Denese has been married to Don for 29 years. They have two sons, Hans and Donnie. She graduated from Winthrop University with bachelors and masters degrees. Denese taught school for 35 years, 20 of them at Fort Mill Elementary. She is retired now and enjoys spending time with her family and helping care for her 90-year-old mother. Denese enjoys traveling, reading, exercising, and her weekly Bible study class. At Unity she has been actively involved with Second Harvest, Family Promise, and the Back to School Backpack initiative.

Beth Windell – Deacon

Beth has been married to Jackson for 18 years. They have three children, Thomas, Ann, and John. She is a teacher at Fort Mill Elementary School. Beth has degrees from College of Charleston and Winthrop. She was born in Charlotte and moved to Fort Mill at the age of 9. She enjoys visiting the beach and the mountains, camping and hiking, and Clemson football. At Unity, Beth has been active in helping with children and youth, which includes helping in the nursery, volunteering with VBS, assisting with Children in Worship, teaching Sunday school, leading Growing Christians, and working with Middle School Youth Group. She served on the most recent Pastoral Search Committee, and is currently Chair of the Youth Ministry Team.
